The perfect wave will soon be coming to Sydney's Olympic Park, with an Urban Surf park currently in the works.

You'll soon be able to ride the perfect wave in Sydney and it's a long, long way from the beach. A man -made surf break is coming to Olympic Park and tonight you have an exclusive look. Right now it's concrete, metal and dirt. All the makings of perfect waves. Urban Surf is taking shape.

A 3 .2 hectare wave park with a lagoon as big as a cricket ground. We're about three to four metres underwater right now in a year's time. So you get your head around that and you realise the scale of this thing. Building a beach 20 kilometres from the coast in the hope of making western Sydney a surfing mecca.

There is no beach without a decent drive from western Sydney. Complete with a terrace restaurant and bar, cafe and event space which can host thousands for live musical sport. Plenty of room to watch the waves roll in. The view will just be phenomenal.

So it's basically a Bondi view in Olympic Park. Yeah, absolutely. Back on the sands of Bondi. Every wave is perfect so you know you're going to get a few turns which is great. I think people appreciate the nature, the randomness of the ocean.

I can always see. And there'd be no surf without the wave machine. It's arrived from Spain in 40 containers. Assembly will start this month. Imagine putting together a giant Meccano set that creates waves.

Following in Melbourne's footsteps where Urban Surf attracts visitors from around Australia including Kelly Slater and Lane Beachley. I am so excited about Urban Surf coming to Sydney. But it's not just for pros. It's for pros catering to different abilities from whitewash to pumping 2 metre barrels.

Plenty of waves to go round. It's a really good environment to surf in. No more fighting over a wave. No, definitely not. While the project is a year behind schedule surfers should be carving it up next autumn.
